Question…Is Bush admitting his Iraq fiasco is aiding al Quaeda?

Seems if Bush is revealing that in 2005, nearly two years after Baghdad fell, al Quaeda made plans to establish a base there, then isn’t the president admitting that all of those earlier allegations of ties between Saddam Hussein and bin Laden were wrong. Some of the criticism of Bush’s Iraq policy is that it is actually creating more terrorists and terrorism, and aiding al Quaeda. Seems like Bush agrees. And we still haven’t nabbed bin Laden. Can’t this administration get anything right.

Question…Who has a worst foreign policy record than Bush?

Question of the Day

I’m sure every president faces different challenges, but President Bush not only squandered an opportunity to unite to world in a grand “War on Terror,” but has completely botched even his own Mideast strategy.
If you agree with Bush and the neo-cons and accept their world view and their goals for Iraq and Afghanistan, you have to admit they have failed.
First by not sending enough troops into Iraq; failing to capture Bin Laden and defeat the Taliban; failing to foresee and then deal with the Iraqi insurgency; failing to understand the Iraqi people and their differencies; and arrogantly failing to heed the warnings and advice of outsiders.
There’s an entirely separate set of domestic failures, including failing to reign in the oil companies and other mega-corporations, the tax cuts for the rich, and inaction on health care.
That’s why Bush will go down in history as a failed president. Not because of his neo-con philosophy.

Saddam and the Americans

Filed under: conservatives,Iraq War,President George Bush,Saddam Hussein — John Minter @ 11:28 am

Unfortunately, American troops are beginning to look a lot like Saddam Hussein’s guards. I’m sure noone’s counting, but it is possible that American’s have killed, falsely accused and jailed more Iraqi’s in four years than Saddam ever did. From the news reports, American troops are fighting everybody in Iraq except the Kurds who are just biding their time and salivating over getting complete control over the oil fields in the north. This does not please our “ally” Turkey. Eventually some American president will have to send troops to stand between the Turks and the Kurds. Another Bush mistake our children will pay to correct.

Jimmy Carter v. George Bush

Jimmy Carter has much more credibility than George Bush and his administration will ever have. I’m not sure if Bush has the worse foreign policy ever, but he’s certainly close. Let’s face it, the Bush Administration will go down in the annals of history as a horrific moment in the American story. It will take us year’s to repair the damage and rebuild American’s moral credibility on the world stage. Perhaps longer to recover from his internal foibles.

Let Saddam Hussein Live

Filed under: Iraq War,Saddam Hussein — John Minter @ 11:06 am

In a world in which martyrdom is so honored it would be unwise to create another martyr. Saddam Hussein should be imprisoned, but not hanged. Hanging him will only make him a rallying cry for a host of Sunnis. This will likely inflame and extend the sectarian violence engulfing Iraq today.

I’m not sure Saddam received a fair trial in the midst of the American occupation and the travails of the Iraqi government. Saddam should have been removed from Iraq to a neutral country and tried by an international tribunal. This will undoubtedly become another Bush blunder and add to the legend of the Iraq War’s failures.
